This is my favorite building in New York City. Designed by William Van Alen, it opened in 1930 and was the tallest building in the world for a mere 11 months - until the Empire State Building opened just a few blocks away. It is an outstanding example of Art Deco architecture and the most recognizable building in the New York skyline.
